Wednesday gets off to a wet and overcast start – but the grey skies should break for sunny spells later.

Rain clouds are expected to move north this afternoon and into the evening, with any brief evening showers fading into a cold night.

The wet weather returns early tomorrow, when fleeting sunshine could be followed by heavy showers in the afternoon.

A frosty start to Friday will turn finer later on.
