COASTGUARDS were called after receiving a report of ordnance on the mud flats at Ray Creek Southend.
COASTGUARDS were called after receiving a report of ordnance on the mud flats at Ray Creek Southend.
Portsmouth Royal Navy Bomb & Mine Disposal Unit were tasked to attend after receiving the report from a local bait digger.
Southend Coastguard, local Police and Southend Foreshore Inspectors were also in attendance.
An Ordnance Disposal Officer and Coastguard Officer walked out to inspect the explosives which turned out to be some discharged war time AA shells.
They were safely removed from the area for later disposal.
