Police in Colchester are appealing for information on the lifestyle of a Colchester man who they believe was assaulted in the town last month and who is critically ill in hospital.

The condition of Stuart Coldicott was initially brought to the attention of police on Saturday afternoon, with information that the 36-year-old was in a critical, but stable condition in hospital after sustaining head injuries following a suspected assault.

Officers are looking to speak with people who saw Stuart in the Priory area of the town on Saturday, January 11.

He was seen in the evening, walking around with a number of cuts and bruises.

Senior Investigating Officer, DI Mark Watson, said: “We are looking to establish Stuart sustained these injuries as we’ve been unable to speak to him while he has been in hospital.

“They may have arisen as a result of an accident he had or have been inflicted by someone who attacked him. We would like people to come forward with information.”

Detectives are also looking to identify any friends or relatives of Stuart Coldicott so they can establish his movements during the past month as well as notify loved ones of his situation.

A 51-year-old man from the town was arrested on Sunday, February 16 in connection with this ongoing investigation and is currently on police bail until Friday, April 25.

Anyone is asked to call detectives at Colchester police station on 101.
