Firefighters used a high pressure fan to ventilate a Colchester flat after a fire filled the property with smoke.
A blaze broke out at the first floor flat in Affleck Road shortly after 4pm.
Two Colchester fire crews and an engine from Manningtree tackled the flames using a single hose.
The fire was fully extinguished by 4.40pm, when firefighters moved in to clear the flat of smoke using a fan.
