Firefighters have rescued a man who became stuck in mud in Colchester.
Four fire crews were called to help the man whose leg was trapped in mud near Cadlum Drive at about 5.45am.
Two crews from Colchester and two from Dovercourt were sent to assist the man and firefighters used ropes and a ladder to get the man safely back on dry land by 6.15am.
Station Officer Syd Barrett said: “The man was a few feet from the concrete bank and was stuck in a couple of feet of mud. We got a line out to him and he was able to pull himself out and get to the river wall.
“We then lashed a ladder to the wall and two firefighters in dry suits went in and helped the man up the ladder and back onto the road.”
