DETECTIVES are hoping that a laundry basket could hold the key to tracing a burglar who struck at a house in Colchester
Officers believe that the thief used the basket to carry away electrical items, including a laptop, from a house in Bourne Road.
The break-in happened yesterday (Monday) between 4pm and 7pm and the burglar got in through a back door.
Investigating officer DC Hannah Richardson said: “The property backs onto an alleyway that leads to Winchester Road and we think that the suspect arrived and left by that route.
“A white plastic laundry basket was taken from the house and was probably used to carry away the stolen electrical items. “We want to hear from anyone who may have seen this person carrying the basket in the area of Bourne Road or Winchester Road during the three hours from 4pm.”
Anyone with information should call DC Richardson at the Colchester Target Offender Team on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
