A man arrested by police investigating the murder of James Attfield has been released without charge.
The 38-year-old man, from Colchester, was arrested on Wednesday, a few days after Mr Attfield’s body was discovered in Castle Park.
Senior investigating officer, DCI Simon Werrett, said: “This is very much an active investigation and we still need information to find the person or people responsible for James’s murder.
“James was a vulnerable man who would actively avoid confrontation and risky situations. I can not see any reason why someone would want to attack him.
“A mother has been robbed of her son, his siblings of their brother and his children of their father.
“I am determined to ensure that James’s family are able to see justice done and whoever is responsible for James’s violent murder is taken off the streets.’
Mr Attfield’s body was discovered on Saturday morning with 102 stab wounds.
