A man was arrested on suspicion of possessing an illegal firearm in Colchester this morning.
Armed police apprehended the 18-year-old shortly before 8am on Magdelen Street.
Members of the public reported five police response vehicles parked behind Colchester’s YMCA at that time.
A spokesman for Essex Police said the man is in custody and being questioned by officers at Colchester Police Station.
