POLICE have appealed for information after an accosting in Colchester.
A nine year-old girl was approached at Artillery Street while she was walking to school at about 8.25am on February 5.
Two men in a large silver-grey van stopped and offered to give the girl a lift, but she ran to school and police were called.
A search was carried out in the area but there was no trace of the vehicle.
Additional patrols are now being carried out around schools in Colchester. Police schools officers have also passed on details of the vehicle to school staff.
Any witnesses or anyone with information about the van should contact the investigating officer Pc Lindsey Mason or her colleagues at Colchester Neighbourhood Crime Team on 101.
