A floral tank has rolled into Colchester’s Castle Park to commemorate 100 years since the start of the First World War.
Colchester Borough Council (CBC) gardeners have pulled out all the stops to create the three-dimensional flower display in front of the castle.
Using more than 14,000 flowers the display sumbolizes the pacification of a war machine, and includes the words “Lest We Forget 1914-18”.
The design is inspired by a tank placed in the park during the 1920s as a war trophy.
It has been sponsored by the park’s gardening team Veolia Environmental.
Annie Feltham, councillor for communities, said: “The First World War is an incredibly important part of our history. This stunning flower display will help us remember those who lived, fought and died in the war.”
If the autumn weather and frosts permit the display will continue until Remembrance Sunday in November.
