POLICE have arrested three men following a search for a man believed to have been assaulted and abducted in a Colchester street.
The three men were held in connection with an incident which happened shortly after 9.30pm on Friday, when officers received reports that a man had been assaulted by two men in Clarendon Way, bundled into a black Ford Mondeo and driven away.
The following lunchtime, the 26-year-old man contacted police to confirm he was safe and well. Officers met him in Frinton and established he had not been the victim of a crime but, following further enquiries, that another man had been assaulted nearby and taken to hospital with numerous injuries to his body.
A 26-year-old man from Colchester, a 17-year-old boy from Clerkenwell, London, and a 20-year-old man from the Clacton area were all arrested on suspicion of kidnap the same day released on police bail until Tuesday, December 4 pending further enquiries.
