An identical twin has denied giving her sister’s details after she was stopped by police for a driving offence.
Shannon Taylor, of Magdalen Street, Colchester, was pulled over by officers on May 27 last year for driving without insurance.
Taylor, 22, then allegedly pretended to officers to be her sibling, giving false details.
Her sister was then summoned to court, where the alleged lie came to the fore.
Taylor now faces a charge of perverting the course of justice, which she denied during a hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court today, Thursday, June 22.
Sasha Bailey, defending, said the charge was a “misunderstanding”.
She said: “It’s accepted she was driving the car and accepts she was stopped, it’s the conversation that then happened.
