A young boy was left “shaken and upset” after a teenager allegedly carried out an unprovoked attack.

The nine-year-old child had been walking his dog along Shrub End Road near the surgery on Friday, May 2, when he was approached by the older male shortly after 6.30pm.

The teenager, who is described as white, slim and with curly hair, reportedly grabbed the boy and began a “minor tussle” before he could break free to run home.

Investigating officer, Pc Dan Smith, said: “This was a strange attack and one for which there appears to be no motive. We would like to speak to any passing motorists or pedestrians who saw this interaction take place.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Colchester police on 101.
