A lorry driver from Bury St Edmunds has died unexpectedly five days after his car collided with a tree while on his way to work.
Colin Stephenson, 56, of The Broadway, Eastgate Street, was driving his blue Mazda 6 in Dane Hill Road, Kennett, at about 5.10am on Tuesday, May 5, when it left the road and collided with a tree.
Mr Stephenson, a lorry driver for Turners in Red Lodge, was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge with serious injuries although at the time they were not thought to be life threatening, police said.
He remained in hospital until Sunday when he passed away unexpectedly.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash or the vehicle in the moments leading up to the collision. Call the collision investigation unit on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
