EVENINGS like yesterday make Anita Curtis question why she puts herself through the pain of commuting to London.

She said: “Coming up from the tube I can hardly get on the concourse so immediately fear the worst.

“Yes - signal failure affecting the west Anglia trains. So why are there no trains to Ipswich or Norwich?

“Hundreds of people nearly crush me to get to their trains when announced.

“Eventually a train goes up for Ipswich so hoards of people try to get on. This is not an inter city so, although I managed to get a seat, is extremely uncomfortable and my legs are perched on the heating vent to give me a bit more room.

“Lots of people standing. Not sure what happened to Norwich travellers although I read on Twitter that my normal (Norwich) train was starting from Stratford (useful!!) In the end I was only about 10 minutes later than usual.

“However, normally when things go wrong on a Monday it sets off a precedent for the whole week - watch this space!”

This morning, trains were running to schedule, giving Anita some hope for this evening’s journey. She reported: “After last night’s fiasco, nothing to report this morning. Train in the right place at the right time and on time getting in to London.”
