COMMUTERS leaving the capital are facing another disrupted rush hour this evening as the wintry weather conditions continue to cause chaos on the regions railways.

Train operator National Express East Anglia is advising customers a revised level of service will operate during the main evening peak period from 5pm.

A spokeswoman said all lines on the network are open and the mainline from London to Norwich has resumed its normal half hourly frequency, although people should still allow extra time for their journeys.

But commuters will face delays and disruption getting to London Liverpool street station as the bus and rail network in London is still in chaos.

On the underground, nine out of the ten lines are either partly or completely suspended.

And limited bus services are back running on certain routes but the majority remain withdrawn because of dangerous road conditions.

A spokesman for Transport for London said the heavy snowfall that hit London had severely disrupted transport services and advised people to check before they travel.

He said bus services had been suspended because of fears for passenger safety as road conditions were extremely dangerous.

James Steward, group station manager at Ipswich station said: “We are expecting the weather to deteriorate later causing more disruptions from mid-afternoon.

“We are working with Network Rail and have got a special snow plough clearing the train tracks as much as possible.”
