Conservatives in Colchester have slammed a rise in the cost of parking permits.
A book of 10 paper visitor permits has risen from £8 to £15.
Online permits cost £10, but councillors say many elderly residents rely on the paper versions.
They are calling on the North Essex Parking Partnership to urgently reconsider the move.
Councillor Robert Mitchell, partnership chairman, said the move aimed to standardise prices across Essex and reflect the true cost of running the scheme.
