Felixstowe is playing host to a Continental Street Market this week and organisers expect it to be a big attraction for visitors and residents.

The market opened yesterday and features a range of stallls of international traders selling a variety of products – including food and crafts.

The Continental Street Market is taking place until Sunday, August 12, 10am to 7pm at the Beachside Events Arena, just off the prom behind the leisure centre, Sea Road. Admission free.

A spokesman said: “Set within the new event space, and lining the promenade, expect to experience the sights, sounds and smells of a genuine Continental Market.

“From tasty treats for all the family to enjoy whilst making the most of the picturesque scenery, to unique craft items that you won’t find in the shops.”

The last time the market came it attracted an excellent attendance and traders from a number of countries, including France, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Holland and Poland, with many stallholders wearing traditional costumes.

Food on sale included Brittany biscuits, olives, Italian nougat, a variety of cheeses, sausages, tartiflette, charcuterie, fresh bread, and croissants.

There were also a number of craft stalls, including ones selling items from Finland, Peru and France.
