SERVICES could be hit after council workers voted to take strike action in a dispute over pay.

Unison members across the UK took the vote after rejecting a 2.45% pay offer.

Almost 600,000 workers were balloted, including social workers, housing benefit workers, teaching assistants, dinner ladies, cooks, cleaners, architects and refuse collectors.

It is not yet clear how any strike will affect services in Suffolk and Essex.
