IPSWICH councillor Paul West is standing down from the county cabinet because of pressure of work.

Mr West is responsible for the Greenest Council policy at the county, and has been a member of the cabinet since he was elected to the county in June last year.

He said: “It's been a real privilege to hold this Portfolio. I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience and have relished the challenges involved in working to make Suffolk the Greenest County.

“But unfortunately, the demands on my time are too great at present, and so I have reluctantly decided to step down from the role.

“I will continue giving 100% support to Jeremy Pembroke and the Conservative administration at Suffolk County Council. I also wish my successor the very best of luck in what is an exciting position.”

Judy Terry, County Councillor for Rushmere, Ipswich, will join the Cabinet as Portfolio Holder for the Greenest County from 1st March.

She is also a member of Ipswich council's executive - and no decision is likely to be made on her position there until the local elections in May when she is up for re-election.
