Kesgrave Town Council is considering new play equipment developments for a popular area in the town after receiving continual requests by residents.

The Oak Meadow play area in the Grange Farm estate already includes some play equipment, football pitch and is popular with dog walkers.

The land has now been offered to the town council by current owners Suffolk Coastal District Council, following previous successful transfers including the Millennium Sports Ground, Legion Green and Cedarwood Green.

While the transfer is in the final stages, a town council spokeswoman confirmed it regularly receive requests and suggestions regarding new play equipment.

“The town council has continued to receive requests asking for the play equipment on the site (and others) to be updated.

“The Oak Meadow site has always been used for the provision of play equipment.

“On completion of the transfer the town council will provide additional litterbins, an information board and signs indicating ‘no dogs’ to emphasise the restriction in the fenced area.”

In previous years the site featured a wooden train which had to be removed after being damaged beyond repair, before the current slide was put in place.

Two climbing frames were also built, although one has been subject to vandalism.

The spokeswoman added: “As with all projects the initial investigations, consultations and identifying sources of funding takes more time than anyone would wish.

“However the town council considers the advantage of having sole responsibility for Oak Meadow will enable them to maintain and provide, in the years to come, an area which can grow with facilities to enhance the quality of life for all of its residents.”
