A spokesman for Suffolk police said: "We received reports of a break-in at 7.40am after a window in the rear of the premises was smashed.

"An untidy search of the premises has taken place – it is unclear at this stage what has been taken."

A notice posted in the window of the dental practice reads: "Dear patients, sadly, there has been an incident at the practice and unfortunately we are therefore unable to see patients at this time.

"We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and we will be in contact to re-schedule your appointment at the earliest opportunity."

It is not yet clear why the police cordon has been put in place but Suffolk police have been approached for a comment.
