A cyclist in his 50s was found dead by the side of a road in a village near the Suffolk and Essex border today.
A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service Trust (EEAST) said they received a call at 3.40pm that a male cyclist was lying off the side of the road near the pedal cycle in Lorkins Lane in Twinstead.
Emergency crews including the Essex Air Ambulance, a land ambulance and a rapid response vehicle attended the scene.
The EEAST spokesman said the man had suffered a cardiac arrest and was not breathing or conscious when paramedics arrived.
The paramedics tried to resuscitate the man but he was pronounced dead at the scene, the EEAST spokesman added.
A spokesman for Essex Police said they were told about the incident by the ambulance service.
Officers arrived at the scene and launched an investigation.
No further details of the cyclist were released and no arrests have been made.
