The next meeting of the East Suffolk Travellers’ Association will put the area’s rural bus operation under the spotlight.

Although much of ESTA’s work has concentrated on the rail lines in the area, it also campaigns for better bus transport and David Jordan from First Eastern Counties will be talking about his company’s operation at its autumn public meeting, in the Gannon Rooms, Station Approach, Saxmundham, on Saturday October 14 at 2pm.

Eastern Counties runs services throughout Suffolk and Norfolk, including services 64, 65 and 800 from Ipswich to Woodbridge, Saxmundham, Leiston and Aldeburgh and the Coastal Clipper, service 99, from Southwold to Lowestoft.

First also now operates the Ipswich Park & Ride scheme from Martlesham, and has changed timetables to give an hourly service from Ipswich to Leiston and Aldeburgh with better train connections at Saxmundham.

ESTA chairman Trevor Garrod said: “We in ESTA seek a constructive relationship with all local public transport operators and look forward to hearing about present and possible future developments of First’s services, and how we can work together to promote all train and bus links.”
