EMERGENCY services were called to a collision which left an elderly woman trapped.
Fire crews from Brightlingsea, Weeley and the rescue tender from Colchester, were called to the collision in Colchester Road, Great Bentley, at just before 1pm today.
Firefighters released a trapped woman, who is believed to be in her 70s, from her car following a two vehicle collision.
Using one set of hydraulic cutting equipment, crews had released her within an hour.
She was left in the care of the ambulance service. The air ambulance was also in attendance.
