A CONVICTED burglar who absconded from prison has handed himself in and been returned to jail.
Mark Rhodes was serving a five year jail term for fraud and distraction burglary following a string of offences committed all over the country, including in Suffolk, when he disappeared from a prison in Sheerness, Kent.
Gloucestershire Police launched a man hunt following the disappearance on September 1 and a week later Rhodes, 26, handed himself in at Bethel Street Police Station in Norwich.
He has since been charged with being unlawfully at large and appeared at Norfolk Magistrates Court in Thetford on September 27 and is now serving his term at HMP Norwich.
Rhodes was arrested in Ipswich in May 2009 after his photo appeared on BBC Crimewatch.
