THE curtain will tomorrow come down on a popular four-day beer extravaganza.
Harwich and Dovercourt Bay Winter Ale Festival – which is being held at Kingsway Hall, Dovercourt – has been commemorating the 70th anniversary of the closure of the Foresters Arms in Church Street.
The Harwich Society, which now occupies the site of the former pub, will open its doors to allow beer lovers a look around tomorrow.
Richard Oxborrow, organiser of the beer festival, said: “It’s going very well. We’re into the 11th year. We get travelling beer enthusiasts earlier in the festival but it tends to be more of a local crowd over the weekend.
“Pub closures are a great concern to CAMRA at present so the 70th anniversary of this famous old Harwich pub finally closing is a theme that works on many different levels.”
