A 14-year-old boy was left “shaken” after a masked attacker chased him along a pathway before swinging an unknown object at the youngster.

Police in Essex have issued an appeal after the incident at the rear of Admirals Park in Rainsford Road, Chelmsford, at 8.25am on Monday, December 17.

The 14-year-old boy was cycling along a pathway and was near the bridge when a man approached him and chased him.

He then swung an unknown object at the young person, which hit his rucksack.

The boy was not injured but he was left shaken.

The suspect was described as aged about 18 and had his face covered.

Witnesses to the incident are asked to call Pc Matt Martin in the Chelmsford local policing team on 101, quoting reference 42/184404/18.
