A young woman is reported to have been raped by an intruder at an Essex University’s student halls.
Essex Police has charged Sultan Mohammed, 24, of Almond Way, Colchester after a woman in her 20s said she had been assaulted.
The attack is said to have taken place in Annan Road, which is where the university of Essex’s Meadows student halls are located.
It happened at around 6am on Wednesday.
Mohammed was arrested on Friday and has since been charged with rape and trespass with intent to commit a sexual offence.
He is due to appear at Colchester Magistrates Court tomorrow.
The victim is said to have been safeguarded and is being supported by specialist officers.
