A man is in a serious condition in hospital after a second stabbing in Colchester.

Officers from Essex Police were called by the East of England Ambulance Service to George Street just before 10pm last night.

A 40-year-old man with stab wounds to his back was taken to hospital where his injuries were described as serious but not believed to be life-threatening. He remains in hospital receiving treatment.

The news comes after a murder investigation was launched following the death of a man who was found stabbed in the back next to Colchester’s Castle Park.

An Essex Police spokesman said: “Our enquiries are ongoing and we are looking into whether there are any links with the death of a man who was found in Ryegate Road shortly after 8.20am today (Monday, February 11).”
