TWO straw fires broke out in Essex during the early hours of this morning.
Two crews from Halstead were called to an incident in Stisted Road just after midnight, where they tackled a fire involving about 17 tonnes of bailed straw.
The farmer spread the straw with a tractor while crews used two hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.
Then at 1:39am, one crew from Coggeshall and another from Colchester attended a blaze off the B1024 in Earls Colne.
They used two hose reel jets to extinguish six tonnes of bailed straw which had caught fire.
