Working fire crews in Essex have dealt with three incidents during the first in a series of hour-long strike by Fire Brigades Union members.
Firefighters released two youngsters locked in a flat in Clacton and were later called to Hutton to rescue someone trapped in a bathroom, who was released before the arrival of crews.
Meanwhile, in Colchester, working crews dealt with a car fire in Pill Box Walk.
The strike took place between 10.59pm and 11.59pm. A further two-hour strike is planned today, between 12pm and 2pm, and another one-hour strike will take place between 10.59pm and 11.59pm.
This industrial action is part of a national dispute over planned changes to firefighter pensions.
