BURGLARS made off with up to �35,000 after a major raid on an Essex home.

Jewellery, cash, a passport and a �10,000 cheque were stolen from a property in Coggeshall Road, Marks Tey.

Police said the raid happened between Wednesday, June 20 and the following evening.

Among the items taken was a �12,700 Rolex watch and a �12,000 gold bracelet.

Dc Steve King, of Essex Police, said: “These items of jewellery are of great sentimental value and the victim is extremely distressed.

“We are also concerned that the cheque could potentially be cashed by the thief, using the passport that was also stolen.
