EX-football star Steve Claridge has escaped a jail term for dangerous driving.
The former Cambridge, Leicester City, Birmingham City and Portsmouth striker, now a football pundit, was handed a six month jail sentence suspended for two years at Birmingham Crown Court.
The 42-year-old, who was found guilty of the offence last month, was also banned from the road for a year and ordered to do 150 hours of unpaid community work.
During the trial, Claridge - who was caught driving at around 100mph in wet conditions on the M42 - said he was trying to leave the road to find a toilet.
