A MAN suffered a fractured skull and was left for dead following an unprovoked attack in front of his partner.

Police are now appealing for witnesses after the incident at 1am on Saturday in Maria Street, Harwich.

The 38-year-old, who was walking with his girlfriend, was approached by three men who kicked and punched him, leaving him with a fractured skull, a blood clot behind the eye and bruising.

He was rushed to Queens Hospital, Romford, and has since been transferred to Colchester General for facial reconstruction.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Steve Knight said: “There was no verbal altercation between the men and this appears to have been an unprovoked attack.

“This incident has left the victim with some very nasty injuries so we are extremely keen to bring those responsible to justice.

“I would urge anyone who was in the Maria Street area that to think hard and to get in touch if they think they can help us with the enquiries.”

Witnesses should contact Det. Con Knight at Harwich Police Station on 0300 333 4444 or anonymously on Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
