The family of a Clacton man who was killed in Lawford last week have paid tribute to him today, as an inquest into his death opened at Essex Coroners Court.

The family of a Clacton man who was killed in Lawford last week have paid tribute to him today, as an inquest into his death opened at Essex Coroners Court.

Father John Comer, 46, was found with stab wounds to his chest and his stomach in Barker Close at 5.15pm on Friday, December 1.

He was taken to hospital for treatment, but died from his injuries.

A post mortem examination revealed he died of a stab wound to the heart.

In a statement, John’s family said: “John was a much loved father, son, partner and brother.

“He will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends.

“As a family, we would now like the time to process our grief in private.”

Police launched a murder investigation following Mr Comer’s death and Patrick Chandler, 44, of no fixed address has been arrested and charged with murder.

He was brought before Chelmsford Crown Court yesterday (Tuesday, December 5) will appear back at the court in February.
