Officials at a charity in Felixstowe are celebrating after they received a donation which will bring them one step closer to completing the refurbishment of a community centre.

President of the Lions Club of Felixstowe, Philip Weatherhogg, handed over a cheque for £300 to Leading Lives.

The donation means that the charity has been able to set about decorating parts of the centre, which is based in the grounds of Felixstowe Academy’s Maidstone campus.

Tracy Markwell, Leading Lives manager, said: “We want to say a really big thank-you to the Lions Club of Felixstowe for this very generous donation.

“It will make a huge difference and means we can complete the final stages of refurbishment to transform Felixstowe Community Hub into an attractive resource for the whole town.

“It really feels now that we are near the finishing line and really appreciate the whole community rallying together to support us to transform the building into something we can all enjoy.”
