LORRY drivers in the resort are hunting for jobs today after redundancies were made at a major Felixstowe employer.
15 drivers were made redundant from logistics company Pentalver just before Christmas after a contract to move containers from the town to Ipswich came to an end.
Paul Rogers, 48, one of the employees affected, said many people at the firm had expected the announcement.
He added: “It’s not a good thing to be told at any time of they year, but at Christmas it was hard.
“We were disappointed in the way we were treated for various reasons and dismayed they couldn’t find us work.”
Mr Rogers had worked at Pentalver, which also has bases in Tilbury, Southampton and Cannock, for eight years.
The contract which was ended involved drivers transporting freight to Ipswich, which was then transferred on to rail.
Mr Rogers added that the work is now all expected to be done out of Felixstowe.
Nobody at Pentalver was available to comment on the redundancies.
