Police investigating the rape of an elderly woman in Felixstowe have arrested a second man in connection with the investigation.

Officers were contacted just after 2am on Sunday reporting that someone had broken into her property in the Walton area of the town and sexually assaulted her.

At about 8pm on Tuesday, police arrested a 38-year-old man at his home in Felixstowe on suspicion of rape and burglary. He is currently being questioned at the Martlesham Police Investigation Centre.

A 17-year-old boy from Ipswich who was arrested in connection with the incident on Sunday, has been bailed and is due to return to the police investigation centre on November 24.

A spokeswoman for Suffolk police said: “Police remain in the area where the incident took place conducting enquiries and carrying out reassurance patrols.

“Specialist trained officers together with partner agencies are working with the victim to ensure she receives the best possible care and attention and is helped through this difficult time.”
