A skip fire at the Felixstowe Docks has been dealt with by fire crews.

One fire appliance from Felixstowe Docks initially attended a report of a fire in the open on the dock site, attending the scene at 11.17pm. The crew confirmed that the fire involved a skip of approx 10 sq mtrs containing metal waste.

Further assistance was requested for additional water supply at 11.32pm, and one appliance from Felixstowe station was mobilised in response.

The fire was brought under control by 00.12am this morning using one hose reel and is believed to have been started accidentally.

There were no casualties reported.
