Joe Pasquale, Ferry Fest, a beer and cider festival, heritage, walks and beachcombing – it’s a varied seven days of activities ahead for all ages in Felixstowe.
Thursday, August 23 – Monday, August 27:
Ten real ales and ten ciders will be on offer at the White Horse Beer and Cider Festival. The pub in Church Road, Old Felixstowe, also has live music from 5pm on Saturday when Buzz playing 50s to 90s music will entertain, and on Sunday when the House Shakers will play sounds from the 50s, 60s and 70s. Entry free.
Friday, August 24 – Monday, August 27:
Ferry Fest is a big weekend for the little hamlet of Felixstowe Ferry – offering theatre, art, live music, photography, sailing, storytellers, pirate-themed family fun, wildlife walk and more.

Friday, August 24:
Delightfully Dusty is a tribute to swinging sixties star Dusty Springfield, played by singer Joanne Dalladay, one of the stars of the recent West End hit show Blood Brothers. The show at the Spa Pavilion, Undercliff Road West, at 7.30pm, includes Dusty’s best-known songs, including I Only Wanna Be With You, You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me and Son Of A Preacher Man.

Saturday, August 25:
Whatever music you are into, you are sure to find something to enjoy at the monthly Record and CD Fair at Trinity Methodist Church Hall, Orwell Road, Felixstowe, with a variety of stalls selling CDs and vinyl. The fair is on from 9am to 5pm. Admission 50p to support Crohns and Colitis UK.
Sunday, August 26:
The Felixstowe Society’s Phil’s Sunday Walks are held in memory of Phil Hadwen – known by all as Mr Felixstowe – whose knowledge of the town’s history was exceptional and his guided walks greatly enjoyed. Society members now lead the walks Phil started – meet at Felixstowe Town Hall, Undercliff Road West, at 2.30pm for a tour of the Seafront Gardens. Admission free.
Monday, August 27:
A man who needs no introduction, Joe Pasquale is in Felixstowe – bringing his 30th anniversary tour show A Few of His Favourite Things to the Spa Pavilion for one night. Curtain up is at 7.30pm – call the Spa box office on 01394 284962 for details of tickets availability and prices.
Tuesday, August 28 (and daily throughout the summer):
A great day out for families – try the Summer Holiday Trail at Landguard Fort.
The fort in Viewpoint Road is open from 10am to 4pm and there is plenty to explore inside with displays in the rooms, and lots of history to discover at the place which has the unique distinction of being the last place England was invaded. This summer there is also a quiz trail around the fort.
Normal admission charges for the Fort apply, plus £1.50 for a trail sheet (including a Landguard Fort pencil).
Wednesday, August 29:
Beachcomber and environmentalist Kate Osborne goes Beach Bonkers – inviting families to join her on a beachcombing walk at Felixstowe.
It takes place from 9.30am to 11am. To take part, meet at the Visit Felixstowe Tourist Information Centre beach hut on the prom opposite the Town Hall in Undercliff Road West at 9.20am.
Kate said: “This is one of the few real treasure hunts you can still do. And even better the beach is refreshed twice a day, every day, with each high tide casting up treasures anew.” She will help identify people’s finds and look at how to protect the seashore and marine environment.
The event is suitable for all ages but children must be accompanied by an adult. Those taking part should have footwear suitable for walking on shingle. Cost is £4 each.
Wednesday, August 29:
St Andrew’s Church in St Andrew’s Road is the venue for a lunchtime Music in Felixstowe concert. Nicholas Ward on violin and Andrew Leach piano will play Brahms’ Sonata in D minor and Bach’s Partita in D minor. Event starts at noon – bring your lunch, relax and enjoy the music. There will be a collection on the door.
Sunday August 26, Wednesday, August 29 and Thursday, August 30:
Felixstowe Museum has a summer quiz trail – with youngsters tasked with search for hidden Lego models, solving the clues to win a tasty treat.
The trail is running every Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday during August. Today the museum, next to Landguard Fort, in View Point Road, is open from noon to 5pm.
The museum has fascinating displays on the resort’s history. Trail is £2 for children and adults and includes admission to the museum.
