A hedgerow fire close to Christchurch Park yesterday is being treated by police as suspected arson.

A fire crew was sent out to reports of a hedgerow on fire in St Margarets Green, off Bolton Lane, in Ipswich town centre at around 9.30am this morning, April 19.

The fire is believed to have been started deliberately and is being treated as suspicious by police.

No-one is thought to have been hurt in the incident.

The fire crew, sent from Princes Street, had managed to get the fire under control by 9.43am, just over 10 minutes after arriving at the scene.

St Margaret’s Green is located just yards from two of the entrances to Christchurch Park.
