Fire crews tackle blaze on first floor of Bury St Edmunds building

On arrival the fire was found to be in close proximity to homes

Three fire crews from Bury and Ixworth tackled a blaze on the first floor of a building in Heldhaw Road, Bury St Edmunds, yesterday evening.

The first crew on scene requested back-up after being sent at 9.50pm.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one jet and one hose reel to extinguish the fire by 10.28pm.

A thermal imaging camera was used to check for hot spots.
