FIREFIGHTERS tackled a major straw fire on farmland tonight.
Ten tonnes of straw were alight at the height of the blaze in Bucklesham, which was reported to the fire service at about 8.45pm.
Two fire crews from Felixstowe and one from Ipswich were sent to the scene in Kirton Road, near Kembroke Kennels.
The fire, which also affected verges and hedges, was out by 9.30pm and fire crews remained on scene to dampen the area down and the road was closed to traffic for much of the evening.
