Fire engulfed a double-decker bus just off the A12 – with crews taking around 50minutes to extinguish it.
Essex County Fire & Rescue Service was called to junction 15 off the A12, near Witham, at around 7.30pm.
On arrival the crews from the three appliances dispatched found the bus ablaze – with the incident commander reporting that the vehicle was completely alight.
Crews had extinguished the fire by around 8.20pm, using three hose reel jets.
A fire spokesman said the ambulance service had not been required and that no-one was believed to have been hurt.
