The first ever Great Dunmow Soapbox Race is all set to take place in the Spring.

It is being held along Braintree Road with up to 60 teams taking part in the event being held on Sunday, May 27.

Teams will be from local schools, colleges and businesses along with a number of daring individuals who will battle it out to be named the champion.

The course will consist of a series of jumps and there is bound to be near misses and possibly some spectacular crashes all in name of charity ... the Great Dunmow Round Table.

All profits raised will be used to support the local community and to those who need it most.

The event will be a free, community event featuring professional comedian commentators, food outlets, a bar and a selection of stalls and entertainment for children.

The races will start at 11am and for more information and how to enter log on to the website www.greatdunmowsoapboxrace.co.uk
