Firefighters were called to a street in Ipswich town centre following reports of flames emerging from the pavement.
A fire crew were alerted at around 1.36pm after flames were spotted coming from pavement grille in Silent Street.
Two crews from Princes Street arrived on scene to find the cause of the problem to be leaves alight in a water drain.
The used one hose reel to douse the flames, which were under control within a few minutes.
