THE death of a 50-year-old man whose body was found in his west Suffolk flat is not being treated as suspicious, police have said.
A post mortem took place today following the discovery of a body in a property in Cavendish, near Sudbury on Monday afternoon.
Initially the converted house in High Street was cordoned off as forensic teams combed the inside for clues as to how he died.
But following the results of tests the investigation has closed and the death is being referred to the coroner.
A spokeswoman for Suffolk police said: “The death is not being treated as suspicious and it has been referred to the coroner.
“The cordons at the flat on Cavendish High Street have now been lifted.”
The man has been named locally as Martin, a divorced father who was believed to be in the swimwear trade.
His body is thought to have lain in the flat for several days and the grim discovery was made by the landlord who attended after an alarm was sounding.
