Flood alerts in Suffolk and Essex

The alerts, the least severe of three types of flood warnings, cover parts of central Suffolk and north-east Essex.

There were eight alerts for the region earlier this morning but this has fallen to five.

The River Waveney from Diss and the River Dove to Ellingham, including Bungay: Flooding is possible - be prepared

This message has been issued because of the steady rainfall over the last few days. This means that river levels are remaining high as watercourses continue to react to the recent rainfall. The forecast is for showers through the night which will keep river levels high and fluctuating. We are expecting river levels to remain high but peak shortly and then start to recede however further rainfall is likely to cause levels to rise. Property flooding due to high river levels is not expected, but there may be some issues with surface water flooding.

We will continue to closely monitor levels and update this message as necessary.

Little Ouse and River Thet: Flooding is possible - be prepared

This message has been issued due to the heavy rain experienced over the last few days. This means that the river levels in the Thet and Little Ouse are high and are expect to continue to rise further overnight. The forecast is for light rain over the next few days. We are expecting there to be no property flooding as a result of high river levels, but there could be some issues caused by surface water flooding. Locations most at risk are River Thet including Thetford and Brandon and the Little Ouse and Tributaries in Norfolk and Suffolk.

The Environment Agency are monitoring river levels and have staff in the field checking for and clearing blockages.

North West Norfolk rivers: Flooding is possible - be prepared

This message has been issued due to the heavy rain experienced over the last 72 hours. This means that the water levels in the River Wissey are high and will remain so overnight. The forecast is for light rain over the next few days. We are expecting there to be no property flooding as a result of high river levels, but there could be some issues caused by surface water flooding. Locations most at risk are River Wissey in Norfolk.

River Granta in Essex and Cambridgeshire: Flooding is possible - be prepared

This message has been issued due to the heavy rain experienced over the last 36 hours. This means that the river levels in the Granta are high and will remain so overnight. The forecast is for light rain over the next few days. We are expecting there to be no property flooding as a result of high river levels, but there could be some issues caused by surface water flooding. Locations most at risk are River Granta from Linton to Babraham.

The upper Rivers Yare, Tiffey, Tas and Wacton: Flooding is possible - be prepared

This message has been issued because of the steady rainfall over the last few days This means that river levels are remaining high as watercourses continue to react to the recent rainfall. The forecast is for showers through the night which will keep river levels high and fluctuating. We are expecting river levels to peak and begin to recede however further rainfall is likely to cause levels to rise. Property flooding due to high river levels is not expected, but there may be some issues with surface water flooding.
