A former headteacher who wrote a children’s book for reluctant readers is looking for businesses to sponsor copies for schools.

Kevin Bullock, formerly head at Fordham Primary School in Cambridgeshire, published The Animals of Blipp with all profits from sales of the book going to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

Mr Bullock, who lives at Fornham St Martin, near Bury St Edmunds, says his book, which is set to rhyme, is ideal for reluctant or struggling readers.

After leaving school at the age of 15, with no qualifications, Mr Bullock went on to be a headteacher as well as an adviser to the Cabinet Office on educational issues.

He said: “It took me 10 years of remedial work and evening classes to get to an acceptable level of literacy. I’ve been lucky, many are not.
